💡 If there is one common ground for all expats wherever you are and whatever you are there for ...that would be uncertainty!
👉 Uncertainty leaves us often with fear - fear of not knowing how to respond to what the future will look like - exactly what once experience during an expatriation!
We will therefore tend to plan ahead ...on things/events... we can't know in advance...that's how frustration of not succeeding ....quickly enough ...will arise and lock us up in anxiety and poor adjustment cycles.
👉 Each expat journey is unique wether you are used to travel, to live abroad the expatriation you will live through - will have a specific taste due specific moments and places!
💡 An expatriation will take you far beyond a predictable process of changes steps with predictable phases of adjustments.
👉 It will force you to learn to navigate constant changes in amplified complex volatile environments.
👉 It takes indeed sometimes up to 3 years to "feel at home" in a new country not because it is new (it is easy to find information and learn on a new country basics) but because of the psychological unpredictable adjustments you will constantly need to do to face uncertainty and build your new coping strategies!
👉 Being able to build your own coping strategies - whenever necessary and adapted to what you are experiencing in the moment - will be key to a successful and empowering journey!
👉 Being able to let go anticipated fixed plans and accept a new condition will help you unlock barriers and look up to what this expat can bring you!
💡⚠️ Building coping strategies takes time, a great ability for acceptance, a deep self reflection and guidance from others 👉 don't hesitate to ask for help!
